Feb 2013	Please note that as part of an application for funding from Roscommon LEADER Partnership (RIDC), tenders are now invited for the construction of the new community playing pitch and walking track at Clonown, Athlone, Co. Roscommon. The project has been published on the Etenders procurement website, and the closing date for submission of replies is 17.00 on Monday 25 Feb 2013. All interested parties must register with www.etenders.gov.ie to get the full details. This project is subject to funding from Roscommon LEADER Partnership.
September 2012	The committee of the Clonown Community Site Project Site Project has recently signed a 99 year lease with Roscommon County Council. They have also applied to the Department of Sport’s Capital Programme for funding but the result of this application will not be known until November 2012. The committee wishes to thank all those who supported their fundraising activities during the year.
February 2012	Clonown 10km Run and Walk scheduled for 29 April 2012. You can enter on the day or apply online. To apply online, and for more information, please enter here.
October 2011	There will be a Variety show on 29 and 30 October 2011 in Clonown Community Centre, starting at 8 pm each night. Moore Variety Group will perform and there will be lots of local talent. One of the highlights of the show will be comedy sketches by ‘Clonown Chancers’ Drama Group. Last year’s show was a huge success, with the hall packed to capacity on both nights. So come along and bring all your friends for two good nights of entertainment. Fee: €10 (per adult). Proceeds will be divided equally between the church restoration fund and the Clonown field project.
September 2011	The recent work in the field is an archaeological assessment of the field, which has to be carried out as part of the planning process. This survey is mandatory because of the proximity of the field to the old monastery in Clonown.
16 July 2011	Fundraiser in McNeills Pub, Connaught Street, Athlone at 9.30pm on 16 July 2011. Music by Mr. Breeze. Raffle and spot prizes on the night. All are welcome.
April 2011	The Clonown Community Site Project held its first AGM on 4 April 2011. The committee is always open to new members, and please contact any member to join. The committee has recently applied to Roscommon County Council for planning permission for the site project.
April 2011	There are some remaining companies and families that have pledged a donation to the project but have not yet paid. The committee would kindly request that these donations be made to any committee member. All donor’s names and addresses (excluding donation amount) will be recorded in a special register which will be stored locally and published at a later date.
